About us:Unlike New Labour, the Socialist Labour Party is a real Socialist Party. New labour changed its Constitution in 1995 to eliminate any trace of Socialism and to cosy up to the wealthy who now pay them big donations.
The South East Socialist Labour Party was set up to provide a voice for working class opinion in the South East region. To tackle local issues and their underlying causes from a socialist perspective.
Some Local Issues:
Choice in Transport: We want municipalisation (local public ownership) of our Buses, and cheaper fares to reduce congestion in the South east. There should also be an extension of the local Rail Network in this area.
Education: We are against the closure of any special needs schools in the South East under the pretence of ‘inclusion of pupils into mainstream education’. These kind of cost cutting exercises must be opposed.
Housing: The government is pressuring local councils to privatise council housing, leading to rent rises and loss of tenants rights, including right to buy. We are totally opposed to housing privatisation and support the Defend Council Housing Campaign, which fights for tenants rights.
